ART EXHIBITION

IMMA Collection
On loan from 'The Collection' at The Irish Museum of Modern Art an installation by Belgian film artist Marie-Jo Lafontaine, (one of the most prominent figures in contemporary European art) 'Waves...', is shot off the west coast of Ireland. Lafontaine shows the theatre of the elements in fury, the power and passion of the natural world. The viewer is drawn into the work by her striking use of sound; musical, distorted and other worldly. Also on show are three short atmospheric film pieces by Irish artist Clare Langan, whose sensuous, painterly trilogy shot on location between Ireland, Iceland and Namibia explore the limitless forces of nature, depicting a post-apocalyptic world where the delicate balance of nature has been upturned.

East Clare Artists
Local artists who work on the theme of human intervention in the natural environment are represented by Maírín Kelly, Ian Castles (installation), Andrew St. Ledger (wood-sculptor) and Amanda Dunsmore (DVD).

Wise Ways
An exhibition of work made by visitors to the Daycare Centre in the new art gallery/studio (funded by Leader and HSE). Working over the last 6 weeks with artist Terry O'Farrell, the exhibition documents the extraordinary wealth of knowledge from the older generation of East Clare about the environmentally friendly, sustainable ways in which people lived in the not too distant past. The exhibition offers us an opportunity to learn from their wisdom, how to live more respectfully towards the environment, with a greater sense of community and sharing. Funded by the Hospital Support Group.

Open Monday to Friday 11am-5pm
