Puppet Shows and Performances

2.00 - 2.15pm: Shadow Puppet Performance by children from Tuamgraney National School. Evolved from an Intergenerational Residency at Raheen Community Hospital the childrens puppetry tells a story from their perspective and draws upon the older peoples experiences. Artwork in the form of hand made books made during the residency will be on show in the Aistear.

2.30 - 3.00pm: Seeing and Dreaming - Puppetry/performance.
Meet Dorothy and Michael, two people we have known and loved, with a curious tale to tell: Dorothy is eighty, lives alone in a Victorian house in Birmingham. She has one eye, no teeth and a soft spot for Starsky and Hutch. Michael is eighty-eight. Gnarled and bed ridden, he dreams of dancing and wild horses...
Artist/puppeteer Sarah Fuller and performer Vanessa Earl collaborate to bring their stories to life using shadows, objects, puppets and people.

Singing Session

The days talents include Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh (of Danú and TG4), Cian Hanamy (all-Ireland winner 1st place traditional singing mens 12-15 yrs), Robbie McMahon (the world-renowned) of Spancil Hill, and many more talents from the area and beyond including Bean an Tí Peneleapaí Ní Tiung (Singers Club Loch Deirge).

Storytelling Caravan

with Melissa Baker

30 minute Storytelling Sessions throughout the afternoon. From moon fairies to coconut crabs, travelling train stations to the Okefenokee swamp, tales of magic and teapot trolls will take you flying on the ultimate magic carpet! Storyteller Melissa Baker enthralls audiences with her rare inventiveness and humour.
