Midnight Court Film Society presents: PAN'S LABYRINTH
Directed by: Guillermo del Toro Spain/Mexico, 2006 - Cert: 16 10-yr old Ofélia is forced to move into her stepfather's home where she discovers an overgrown labyrinth and meets its grotesquely fawnlike keeper Pan, an ancient satyr. In exchange for Pan's help in saving her sick mother, Ofélia is set three dangerous tasks which take her on a journey to another world where she must use her wit and guile to overcome the creatures that lurk beneath. Set against the bloody back-drop of the Spanish civil war, Pan's Labyrinth is a gothic fairy tale that weaves seamlessly between reality and fantasy. First showing in East Clare after rave reviews all over Europe... not to be missed. Plus: YOUNG FILM-MAKERS Fishbowl Youth-group 'Fresh Film-makers' present their innovative short work, created in conjunction with Raheen Hospital Daycare Centre, which looks at 'Old Time Dancing'. Discussion and question-time. Plus: Short films selected on the theme of 'Our Fragile Earth'.
