HARP EVENING

The Time of O'Carolan
An inspiring evening with renowned Harper / composer Janet Harbison. Through words and music, Janet explores the classical period of Irish music Š 17th and 18th century, which peaked with the compositions of O'Carolan. Acknowledged as one of Ireland's most authoritative and prominent traditional harpers, Janet is founder member of the Grammy Awards Winning Irish Harp Orchestra and runs the Irish Harp Centre in Co. Limerick where she also teaches.

COMEDY

Presenting Snatch Comedy from Cork: Damien Punch, Cathal Carrol, Sean McNally and Adrian Scanlan form a talented young group of comedians whose sketches and improvised, audience participatory style have won them deserved acclaim at Kilkenny Cat Laugh's Festival. Snatch have surprised and amazed crowds throughout the country and promise to offer something special to Mountshannon.

The Fake McCoys
Based in East Clare this up and coming band play an eclectic, lively and uplifting mixture of Irish and Scottish Traditional, Bluegrass, Klezmer and originals. Ali Roberts (fiddle), Sandy Robertson (multi-instrumental), Eoin Delaney (guitar/mandolin/vocals) and Marcus Hulme (double bass). Time to get up and dance!

CONCERT

Resident musicians Seamus Buglar and Kate Mc Namara open the concert followed by Tuamgraney native concertina player Martin O'Brien who recently launched his new C.D. 'Crann Carraige' (concertina melodies from East Clare) and will perform in his elegiac style with one of Ireland's greatest bazouki players Eoin O'Neill and special guest all the way from Colorado Adam Agee (fiddle). His debut album of timeless exquisite quality won him rave reviews on the Irish music scene, and deservedly so. A big welcome to him at his first festival performance in Mountshannon, a treat for us all.
 
No Crows
This awesome foursome of fine musicians are on tour from Sligo. Felip Carbonell is a magnificent Mallorcan guitarist, his Flamenco/Manouche style guitar provides the engine for No Crows exciting and stylish music. Steve Wickham (violin) of 'The Waterboys', with his energetic style and repertoire adds spice to the quartet. Anna Houston's Swiss/Celtic roots are apparent in her intricate and soulful playing of the Cello and Mandolin. Eddie Lee provides the hot grooves on his double bass. Their repertoire ranges from Irish traditional to classical and gypsy swing, folk tunes from China, Finland, Moldova, Russia, Venezuela, Greece and beyond.
 
The melting pot that is No Crows borrows from the cosmopolitanism of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Loyko's innovations (with just a tincture of the freewheeling of Django Reinhart) for their debut... Swing rarely felt this good.

SEAN-NÓS DANCING

RTE/Arts Council award winner, Ronan Regan captures the heart, humour and subtlety of traditional music and dances percussively to the essence of the tune. Followed by Seamus Buglar and Kate McNamara and visiting Colorado fiddle player Adam Agee (and friends) whose dynamic repertoire will offer an uplifting and exiting performance, for all to enjoy.
