CONCERT

Resident musicians Seamus Buglar and Kate Mc Namara open the concert followed by Tuamgraney native concertina player Martin O'Brien who recently launched his new C.D. 'Crann Carraige' (concertina melodies from East Clare) and will perform in his elegiac style with one of Ireland's greatest bazouki players Eoin O'Neill and special guest all the way from Colorado Adam Agee (fiddle). His debut album of timeless exquisite quality won him rave reviews on the Irish music scene, and deservedly so. A big welcome to him at his first festival performance in Mountshannon, a treat for us all.

No Crows
This awesome foursome of fine musicians are on tour from Sligo. Felip Carbonell is a magnificent Mallorcan guitarist, his Flamenco/Manouche style guitar provides the engine for No Crows exciting and stylish music. Steve Wickham (violin) of 'The Waterboys', with his energetic style and repertoire adds spice to the quartet. Anna Houston's Swiss/Celtic roots are apparent in her intricate and soulful playing of the Cello and Mandolin. Eddie Lee provides the hot grooves on his double bass. Their repertoire ranges from Irish traditional to classical and gypsy swing, folk tunes from China, Finland, Moldova, Russia, Venezuela, Greece and beyond.

The melting pot that is No Crows borrows from the cosmopolitanism of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Loyko's innovations (with just a tincture of the freewheeling of Django Reinhart) for their debut... Swing rarely felt this good.
